RFID is one of the major topics in Internet of Things (IoT). The most
challenging issues of RFID are the safe mutual authentication of parties and the
security of following message exchanges through the air. In this work, an
enhanced lightweight authentication protocol for WISP type RFID tags is
presented. The protocol is inspired from the Internet Key Exchange protocol
IKEv2, a well-known part of the famous Internet Protocol Security Protocol IPsec.
The proposed protocol is a reduced lightweight version of IKEv2, without
violating its rules. An extensive security analysis of the protocol against many
attacks is provided.
